About me, Pricing, and Contact Info

It all started when…

I picked up a camera as a young child…and dropped it to go find another toy.

In reality I took up photography later in life while I was finishing my degree in Music Composition because I needed a second creative outlet in my life to let off the steam from the first one. As a young man my father was a wedding photographer and so I was able to throw all my technical questions at him, and what he threw back just stuck. I wish I had picked up composing this gracefully. I then began down this rabbit hole of insatiable curiosity that ultimately led me to start my own photography business.

I’m currently finishing my professional photographic practice at the Queensland College of Art. I’ve been chasing the thrill of photographing landscapes, astrolandscapes, and double-exposed film for years, but have now shifted my focus to capturing our human stories, moments, and memories.

Weddings

I currently offer a full-day package (that’s all the way from the early morning champagne up until your final dance) for $1500.

It’s the biggest day of your life! But don’t stress, your in-laws will give you enough of that. What I’m here to do is document your special day, and to guide you through those classic wedding beats.

“But wait!”, you cry, “I hate posed photography!” That’s totally cool too, as I can be your fly on the wall. You might be pleased to know that a lot of the best photography in weddings happens totally organically and without my intervention. It’s just a lot easier to be relaxed when you look into the eyes of your partner and not down the barrel of a lens. We can always combine the best of both worlds because staged-naturals are a thing now, too.

I don’t wear the straps you see in my profile for fun (except sometimes I pretend I’m an 80’s police officer), as they help me lug around my two cameras and my small army of lenses. And the lights. And the sand bags. But those are only if I’m bringing the lights.

If I feel like I can’t be in two places at once because of your wedding arrangements, or if you are otherwise interested, I’ll chat with you about extending your budget to accommodate a second shooter. They can normally be had for about $350-$400. I have and continue to work with a lot of talented photographers, many of whom I would trust to shoot my own wedding.

So for a quick rundown of what I just said, let’s recap:

Full Day Coverage for $1100, and it's actually a full day
Additional hours (in addition to what? It’s already a full day!) at $100 per hour
Fly-on-the-wall coverage or an involved presence in your day
An unlimited number of edited, delivered images (in my experience these range from 500-800 for a full day)

Do I have to pay a deposit?

Yes, as this will secure the date and prevent double-bookings. The deposit is 30% of the final price and is non-refundable, with the total balance due five days before the event.

Can I get this all in writing?

There will a written contract to sign. It’s like the Unbreakable Vow from the Harry Potter series but no one dies if you break it. It is there however to keep the both of us in check, to create the legal certainty of payment and the certainty that I will deliver your images.

How will I receive my images?

All hand-edited, delivered photos will be made available digitally (a USB option is available) via a personalised online gallery that can be shared with friends and family, or alternatively kept private. I don’t charge extra for a “full resolution” fee, and I don’t charge extra for a release of digital rights. While I do curate my negatives, you will retain rights and ownership over these delivered photos and may print or distribute them at your leisure. In exchange I’ll ask you to allow me to put these images on my website.

Do you travel?

Sure do! The price of weddings and event photography covers 50km of travel from Brisbane, which includes the return distance back home, and the distance between venues if it’s longer than a short hop and a skip away. I can service the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast too. Destination weddings are an option as well, though a long lead-time on these is preferable.

Events, Social Gatherings, Birthday Celebrations

I shoot corporate events, birthdays and formals too, and you can see plenty of examples on my site. Shoot me an email so I can understand your needs and get back to you with a quote.
